Night Snorkeling in Moorea – Everything You Need to Know
Moorea Dark Waters offers a one-of-a-kind adventure: a night snorkeling tour in the calm lagoon of Moorea, where the reef comes to life after sunset. If you're looking for a unique, intimate, and educational experience in French Polynesia, this is it.
Here’s everything you need to know before joining the tour.
π Duration and Schedule
-
The tour lasts about 2 hours, including gear setup, briefing, and water time.
-
We begin just after sunset, when the last light fades and the marine life starts to shift into night mode.
We’ll let you know the exact meeting time depending on the season (sunset in Moorea varies).
π What You’ll Experience
At night, the lagoon becomes a different world. The coral breathes, nocturnal fish come out, and tiny organisms start glowing. You might see:
-
Octopuses, shrimp, lobsters, and lionfish
-
Stonefish, sleeping parrotfish, and corals feeding
-
Occasionally: reef sharks, rays, or a flash of bioluminescent plankton
The reef reveals a hidden, peaceful side of marine life — silent, mysterious, and beautiful.
π§π€π§ Group Size
-
Maximum of 6 guests per group.
-
We prioritize small groups to maintain a quiet, immersive experience.
-
Most nights, we’re the only ones in the lagoon — no boats, no crowds, just us.
π§ Meeting Point
The meeting point may vary depending on weather and current conditions, especially lagoon currents, which change from day to day.
Please contact us the day before (or the same day) of your tour to confirm the exact meeting location.
