What to Bring for a Night Snorkeling Tour in Moorea
Planning to join a night snorkeling tour in Moorea? You’re in for a truly unique experience — peaceful, exciting, and full of hidden marine life. But before you jump in, here’s a quick and easy guide to help you prepare.
Bring Your Own Gear — If You Have It
At Moorea Dark Waters, we provide everything you need:
-
Mask and snorkel
-
Fins
-
Full wetsuit
-
Underwater lights
But if you already have your own snorkeling gear — especially your mask and fins — we strongly recommend bringing it.
Why?
Because even the best mask in the world is useless if it doesn’t fit your face properly. A leaking or uncomfortable mask can ruin your night. Your own gear is familiar and trusted — and that makes a big difference.
The same goes for fins. They might be the right size, but every foot is different. Some people need a snugger fit, others prefer more space. If you already know your fins and feel good using them, they’re the best option.
Important: If you're bringing short pool-style fins (the kind used for lap swimming), please let us know in advance.
They’re not ideal for snorkeling in open water and may not provide enough propulsion.
If you don’t have your own gear — no worries. We provide high-quality, well-maintained equipment, and we’ll help you get fitted before entering the water.
What Else to Bring
Here’s what we recommend for a comfortable and smooth night:
✅ Swimsuit (wear it under your clothes)
Makes it easier to get ready before putting on the wetsuit.
✅ Towel
For drying off after the snorkel — especially useful on cooler nights.
✅ Warm clothes for after
A hoodie helps you stay cozy when the tour ends.
✅ Reusable water bottle
You may not feel it, but staying hydrated is important even at night.
✅ Waterproof bag (optional)
For phones, dry clothes, or anything you don’t want getting wet.
✅ A curious and open mind
Night snorkeling is more than an activity — it’s a calm, quiet adventure full of mystery and discovery.
✅ Mosquito repellent
What Not to Bring
❌ Valuables
We recommend leaving anything valuable at your hotel.
❌ Sunscreen
It’s nighttime, and sunscreen can harm the reef if it ends up in the water.
Pro Tip: Eat Light Before the Tour
Heavy meals right before getting in the water can make you feel uncomfortable. A light dinner is ideal.
Ready for an Unforgettable Experience?
We’ll provide everything you need — but bringing gear you already know is always a plus.
It helps you feel more confident and enjoy the moment without distractions.
